Criminal charges have been filed against a couple arrested for alleged illegal drug trading in Leon, Iloilo, on July 7.
An inquest case for violation of Sections 5 and 11, Article II of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, was filed July 9 against the suspects, identified only by the aliases “Eric,” 47, and his live-in partner, “Letlet,” 49.
The couple was arrested in a buy-bust operation at their home in Zone 5, Barangay Talacuan, Leon.
Members of the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit 6 arrested the suspects after about five months of surveillance.
Capt. Glenn Soliman, RPDEU-6 deputy chief, said the seized drugs weighed around 665 grams and had a standard drug price of PHP 4.4 million.
Soliman said both suspects are on the Philippine National Police regional target list.
Eric had a previous drug-related arrest and was released from jail in 2025 through a plea bargaining agreement.
The suspects remain detained at the PNP custodial facility.
RA 9165 penalizes the sale, possession, transportation, and distribution of dangerous drugs and controlled substances in the country.
