A tricycle driver was arrested during a police anti-narcotics operation on the afternoon of June 23 in Dumangas, Iloilo.
Members of the Dumangas Municipal Police Station apprehended Richard Rojo, 59, a resident of Barangay Talusan, Dumangas, following a buy-bust operation in Sapao village.
The suspect allegedly sold a sachet of suspected shabu for P13,700.
Police operatives seized 105 grams of suspected shabu and a wallet containing P1,950 from the suspect’s possession.
Major Samuel Vipinosa, Dumangas police chief, said the seized drugs have an estimated standard drug price of P714,000.
Rojo was previously arrested on April 1, 2023, for a drug-related offense.
He allegedly attempted to sneak four sachets of suspected shabu inside the Iloilo District Jail-Male Dormitory in Barangay Nanga, Pototan, concealing the illegal drugs in a bag of charcoal.
The illegal drugs were valued at P54,400.
Rojo was reportedly supposed to deliver the illegal drugs to an inmate facing charges for five counts of rape. It was not immediately known what the disposition of that case was.
With his present arrest, Rojo is back in jail and will face charges for violating Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).
