BACOLOD CITY — Police are considering personal grudges as a possible motive in the killing of a 31-year-old tricycle driver in Sitio Buri, Barangay 4, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental, on Thursday.
Lt. Col. Gary Allan Resuma, chief of the Kabankalan City Police Station, said the victim had just picked up his wife from their store and was on the way home when they were tailed by a motorcycle driven by an unidentified person.
Resuma said the motorcycle rider’s companion suddenly shot the victim with an unidentified firearm, hitting him in the head.
The suspects fled the scene, while the victim was rushed to a hospital, where he later died at around 1 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 23.
Resuma said the victim’s wife was unharmed during the incident.
He added that police already have leads on the identities of the suspects and are awaiting the victim’s family to file formal charges.
Police are continuing to investigate the reported personal grudge angle as part of the case build-up.
