BACOLOD City – Mayor Ella Garcia-Yulo of Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental rues the failure of the previous administration to formally turn over all pertinent documents and inventory of the town’s properties when she assumed office on July 1, 2019.
Yulo said that while she prepared her transition team, her uncle and former mayor Magdaleno Peña did not bother to follow the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) procedure for a smooth transition of power.
“No official documents and records were turned over to my transition team,” Yulo said.
Yulo said they have to conduct the inventory and accounting of the town’s records, projects, and properties and scrutinize the budget.
Yulo said that initial findings indicated that the remaining budget for the second half of the year is not enough to hire contractual and casual employees.
Documents of casual and contractual workers hired by the previous administration are nowhere to be found.
She added this will affect the delivery of basic services.
As her first official act, Yulo met with school officials, department heads and barangay captains at the municipal hall.
