Uswag Ilonggo party-list Rep. Jojo Ang formally turned over three newly completed school buildings on June 11, marking the first batch of projects under an educational infrastructure program worth PHP 227.3 million designed to address classroom shortages and improve learning conditions in public schools.
The newly inaugurated facilities include a three-story, six-classroom building at Uswag San Isidro Elementary School in Jaro, Iloilo City, a three-story, six-classroom building at Iloilo Central Elementary School, and a four-story, eight-classroom building at Fort San Pedro National High School.
The projects form part of a broader initiative covering Iloilo City’s seven districts, with the goal of providing students and teachers with safer, more conducive, and disaster-resilient learning environments.
During the turnover ceremonies, Ang underscored the importance of investing in educational infrastructure, noting that quality classrooms contribute significantly to students’ academic development and overall well-being.
“Every learner deserves access to safe and comfortable classrooms that support learning and help them reach their full potential,” Ang said.
The three completed structures represent the initial phase of the citywide program, while construction of the remaining school buildings in other districts continues.
Education officials, teachers, parents, and community leaders welcomed the completion of the facilities, citing their contribution to addressing classroom congestion and accommodating increasing student enrollment in public schools.
The new buildings are expected to enhance the delivery of basic education by providing additional learning spaces and improving the overall quality of school facilities.
Designed to meet modern standards and withstand natural hazards, the structures are also intended to support the long-term needs of the city’s growing student population.
Ang said the program reflects a continuing commitment to strengthening the education sector through infrastructure investments that promote accessibility, safety, and quality learning opportunities for Ilonggo students. (Advertorial)
