Terence Crawford plans to challenge winner of Alvarez-Charlo mega-fight

Terence Crawford finally revealed his ultimate plan.

After scoring a technical knockout victory over Errol Spence Jr. to become the unified welterweight champion a month ago, the undefeated boxing superstar is finally moving forward and announced his next targeted fight to resume his campaign.

During an episode of the “The Joe Rogan Experience” podcast hosted by Mr. Rogan himself, Crawford said that he wants to challenge the winner of the Canelo Alvarez-Jermell Charlo fight scheduled on September 30, 2023.

With that being said, Crawford made it known that he is no longer interested in fighting Spence Jr. again even though a rematch activation clause has been signed as part of the contract.

On the other hand, Spence Jr. immediately announced during the post-fight interview that he would be activating his rematch clause to meet inside the ring with Crawford again this December.

There are also talks of Jarron Ennis challenging Crawford for his belts in welterweight but the Omaha, Nebraska native is yet to show interest in accepting the fight proposal.

Boxing analysts still see Crawford’s move as risky and ambitious as he is set to move up to a heavier weight class in the 168-lbs. division.

Crawford will be coming from a 146-lb fight against Spence Jr. and climbing up to that weight limit might affect his speed, punch timings, footwork, and lateral quickness.

For Crawford, greatness will always be the mindset as he is aiming to become the sport’s only three-division undisputed king if he can book the winner of the Alvarez-Charlo fight.

He also has the resume to back his talk up after clinching 40-straight professional wins without a single loss and is now a two-division unified champion of the world.

“Yeah. If he wins (referring to Alvarez) or Charlo. I want to be a three-time undisputed. I want the winner,” said Crawford.
