BACOLOD City – An 18-year-old boy died while five others were wounded after their motorcycles collided at Purok Tahanan, Barangay Poblacion 2, Sagay City, Negros Occidental last Wednesday.
Police withheld the names of the fatality and the five other victims who are students aged 15 to 23.
Police Lieutenant Hanna Mesheil Banquil, deputy chief of Sagay City Police Station, said the victims were tailing each other and were allegedly speeding on their way home when they overshot a vacant lot after the collision.
Each motorcycle was ridden by three persons, and they were all not wearing helmets, according to Banquil.
Banquil said the victims were reportedly drunk.
“Halin sila sa inom asta naagahan,” she added.
Banquil said the three female victims were discharged from the hospital, while the two motorcycle drivers are confined at Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH) here.
She said the family of the teenage boy has decided not to press charges against the motorcycle drivers.
