BACOLOD CITY — A 26-year-old private school teacher died, and two others, including her live-in partner, were injured in a motorcycle collision Sunday in Barangay Marina, Binalbagan, Negros Occidental.
Police Capt. Joelan Vinson, chief of the Binalbagan Municipal Police Station, said the victim, identified only as “Inday,” was riding a motorcycle driven by her 26-year-old partner, “Josh.”
The couple had traveled from Kabankalan City after attending the Sinulog Festival.
According to the investigation, a 50-year-old motorcycle rider identified as “AJ” suddenly crossed the road without taking precautionary measures, resulting in a collision.
Vinson said none of the three riders were wearing helmets at the time of the crash.
The teacher, who had worked at a private school in Isabela town, was declared dead at a hospital.
The two male riders survived and are recovering from their injuries.
Authorities also found that the teacher’s partner did not have a driver’s license or the motorcycle’s official receipt and certificate of registration during the incident.
Vinson said the investigation is ongoing to determine who was at fault, pending possible charges.
Meanwhile, the teacher’s school community mourned her loss, remembering her dedication and impact.
“Your influence will continue to inspire us. Your dedication, kindness, and passion will be deeply missed, but your memory will live on in our hearts. You may be gone, but your spirit and the lessons you’ve shared will remain with us forever,” the school said in a statement.
