BACOLOD Tay Tung High School (BTTHS) Teams A and B and La Carlota extended their winning streak in the JGM Finance Corporation 17-under Girls Invitational Volleyball Tournament at BTTHS gym on May 18, 2019.
BTTHS-B scored its fourth win in the tournament in Pool B at the expense of Don Bosco, 25-15, 25-19. They also eliminated Negros Occidental High School (NOHS), 25-18, 24-26, 25-11.
BTTHS-A claimed the solo spot in Pool A after beating Siliman University, 25-5, 25-22 and Talisay, 25-10, 25-6.
La Carlota also maintained its unblemished record in the tournament after tying BTTHS-B on top of Pool B with an identical 4-0 record. The teams latest vicitm was Tanjay of Negros Oriental, 25-16, 18-25, 25-13, and University of St. La Salle, 25-22, 25-21.
According to Jose Montalbo of Tay Tung, the league also serves as a preperation for the next school year.
“New faces pop up and more public schools are joining. We are very satisfied because more of our players will join UAAP next year,” Montalbo said.
Some Tay Tung spikers are now leaving Bacolod City to compete in the upcoming National Private Schools Athletic Association (PRISAA) in Davao City.
“We will defend our title in secondary girls’ volleyball. Hopefully, our experiences will help us retain the crown,” Montalbo added.
