Tanod killed in road mishap

ROXAS CITY, Capiz – A 61-year-old barangay tanod died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2022 in a hospital here following an accident at Barangay Sibaguan here.
Benjamin Handoy, a tanod of Brgy. 6 here, was fixing his tricycle when a multicab crashed with the tricycle.
Onboard the multicab was driver Jonnijon Valbarez, 21, of Brgy. Pob. Norte, Ivisan and his passenger John Carl Bautista, 21, of Brgy. Poblacion Sur also of Ivisan town.
Police reports said that Handoy was crouching behind his tricycle when the multicab suddenly hit him and his tricycle.
The victim’s head was pinned by the multicab’s windshield and was subsequently dragged on the road.
Bystanders took the victim to the Capiz Doctor’s Hospital where he expired.
Handoy’s family is preparing to file charges against Valbarez.
