BACOLOD CITY — Talisay City Mayor Atty. Rowena “Weng” Lopez Lizares led the opening of the Talisay City Agriculture and Fisheries Council (CAFC) Showroom on Jan. 5, a project aimed at directly linking local farmers and fisherfolk with consumers.
Located in front of Talisay City Hall, the showroom serves as a direct marketing venue for locally produced vegetables and farm goods, reducing reliance on middlemen and helping producers retain a larger share of their earnings.
Lizares said the initiative is part of the city government’s effort to strengthen local agriculture and fisheries while improving access to fresh and affordable food for residents.
“This is about valuing the people who feed our city,” Lizares said.
She said empowering farmers and fisherfolk contributes to food security, fair income opportunities, and inclusive economic growth.
The mayor added that the showroom reflects the city’s people-centered policies, particularly for sectors considered vulnerable to market fluctuations.
The CAFC Showroom also supports the city’s campaign to promote locally grown and Talisaynon-made products, with proceeds from sales directly benefiting local producers.
City officials said the project is expected to stimulate community-level economic activity while encouraging residents to buy local agricultural and fishery products.
Lizares encouraged the public to visit the CAFC Showroom and support local farmers and fisherfolk by purchasing fresh and affordable products.
