Strive for Five: Ronaldo becomes 1st player to score in 5 separate World Cups

Cristiano Ronaldo further solidified his place in the Mount Rushmore of football after scoring in another World Cup.

In a scoreless first-half duel in the World Cup between Portugal and Ghana, Ronaldo had the chance to draw first blood after a penalty kick was awarded in the 65^th minute.

As Ronaldo found the back of the net for another international goal, the Portuguese living legend inked his name in the history books after becoming the first man to score in five different World Cups.

Ronaldo’s delivered goal for Portugal set a new record as he breaks his deadlock with Lionel Messi, Pele, Miroslav Klose, and Uwe Seeler who all had goals in four different World Cups.

“This was a beautiful moment. The world record, the only player to score in five World Cups, makes me very proud,” said Ronaldo.

The milestone was made sweeter after Ronaldo and Portugal pulled off a gutsy 3-2 win over the tough Ghanaian squad.

Despite the firepower Portugal had, Ghana stood its ground and avoided a demolition exhibition at the hands of Ronaldo.

Ghana provided some scare for the whole Portugal nation after equalizing the match in the 73^rd minute. Portugal was able to answer with two more goals and tallied a comfortable 3-1 lead.

With only a minute left in the game, Ghana was able to cash in a late goal in hopes of a stunning comeback but the Portuguese midfielders chose to delay the game and played safe.

Portugal will have the chance to improve to 2-0 when they square off against another experienced team in Uruguay on November 29, 2022.
