No was hurt when the house of Marilyn Distor, 38, went up in smoke after it was set afire by her son Ryan Distor.
Investigation by the Panitan Municipal Police Station indicated that witnesses saw Ryan pouring gasoline on the house around 4AM.
Ryan was suffering from mental illness and even attempted to hurt his parents in the past days.
Several residents helped put out the fire, but it quickly spread to the entire house.
It took one hour for the fire truck of the Bureau of Fire Protection-Panitan Fire Station to respond because of the very narrow road leading to the scene.
Arson investigators estimated the damage at PHP100,000.
