BACOLOD CITY — The skeletal remains of a 59-year-old man who went missing during the onslaught of Typhoon Tino in November last year were discovered in a sugarcane field in Sitio Simboryo, Barangay Bulad, Isabela, Negros Occidental, on Sunday.
Police said a sugar worker found the remains while harvesting sugarcane in the plantation that afternoon.
Authorities later confirmed that the remains were scattered in the middle of a vast sugarcane plantation.
The victim was positively identified by his younger brother through the clothes recovered at the scene.
During the investigation, the victim’s brother said the man was last seen untying his carabao in a sugarcane plantation in Hacienda Pilar, Barangay Crossing Magallon, Moises Padilla, when he was swept away by a flash flood on Nov. 4, 2025.
The remains were claimed by the immediate family about two months after the victim was reported missing.
