ROXAS CITY, Capiz — Six persons were arrested Sunday afternoon, April 27, for illegal cockfighting at Sitio Tonggo, Barangay Lanipga, Panay, Capiz.
Police said four of the suspects were residents of Panay town, while two were from Pontevedra.
Several other individuals managed to flee when police arrived at the scene.
Recovered from the suspects were one live and three dead fighting cocks, PHP11,000 in cash, and accessories used in the cockfighting event.
The suspects are currently under the custody of the Panay Municipal Police Station.
Charges for violating Presidential Decree 1602, or the Anti-Illegal Gambling Law, will be filed against them.
