ROXAS CITY, Capiz — A senior citizen was arrested Sunday morning, April 27, for possessing an unlicensed firearm during a search warrant operation in Barangay Ilawod, Pontevedra, Capiz.
Police identified the suspect as “Boyet,” 61, a resident of the area.
Pontevedra police chief Maj. Gregg Anthony Salbang said his office received complaints that the suspect had allegedly used the firearm to threaten neighbors.
He said the suspect is facing a reckless imprudence case in court and is a former drug surrenderer in the barangay.
Recovered from the suspect were a .38-caliber revolver and three live rounds of ammunition.
The search warrant was issued by Judge Lorencito Diaz of the Regional Trial Court Branch 17, Sixth Judicial Region, Roxas City, on April 22, 2025.
The suspect remains under the custody of the Pontevedra Municipal Police Station while charges for violating Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, are being prepared against him.
