The basketball teams of Hua Siong College of Iloilo (HSCI) and Iloilo Central Elementary School (ICES) are nearing the quarterfinals of the SBP Chairmans Cup after scoring major wins at the HSCI-Ledesco covered gym on May 24, 2019.
In the U15 division, Hua Siong Red Lion Cement relied on the 17-point heroics of Rez Aarhon Panes to rout PAREF-Westbridge School (PWS), 91-59.
Carlo Samiel Po scored 11 points for Hua Siong which improved its record to six wins and a loss.
HSCI also routed SBP Pototan, 110-23, later in the afternoon.
Hua Siong’s U12 also pulled off their fifth win in the league after defeating Colegio de San Jose (CSJ), 89-30, thanks to Nino Ballados who waxed hot in the second half to score 17 points in the game. His teammate Justin Adam added 9 markers.
But Hua Siongs run was cut short when the ICES Hunters beat them in the U12 division on Friday afternoon, 69-64.
In other matches, Sta. Clarita International School (SCIS) Primes-Asialink outplayed Passi City, 66-57; while Assumption Passi bounced back from Thursdays loss to survive Flying Lizard Draco, 49-48.
Ceasar Dorego erupted with 28 points to pace University of San Agustin (U12) in blasting PWS, 45-37. Benn Denzyl Gomez also chipped in 6 points for the Golden Eagles which now sports a 5-1 win-loss record.
Team Pavia dismantled Passi City, 77-26. Paul Kenneth Sandoval led the way with 12 points, while Serapio Camposano sizzled with 9 points in the game.
