San Antonio obliterates Sacramento for 2nd straight NBA win
By Leobert Julian A. de la Peña

It was another day at the office for the San Antonio Spurs after handing the Sacramento Kings a lopsided loss, 130-103, in the ongoing NBA regular season on Oct. 28, 2026, at the Frost Bank Center.
After claiming their first win of the season with a dominant second-half performance against the Dallas Mavericks, the Spurs made sure no slow starts would derail their explosive outing as they manhandled the Kings from start to finish.
Victor Wembanyama quickly buckled down to work in the first quarter, schooling the entire Sacramento frontcourt with his offensive versatility and rebounding prowess.
Wembanyama’s early rampage helped the Spurs stretch their lead to as many as 14 points in the first quarter, but Sacramento showed resistance through its second unit as it kept up with San Antonio’s efficient 3-point shooting.
However, Sacramento’s comeback hopes quickly melted when the trio of Devin Vassell, Stephon Castle, and Dylan Harper spearheaded a massive 16-2 run in just three minutes.
Vassell caught fire from downtown, draining back-to-back transition treys before Castle and Harper attacked Sacramento’s interior with four straight layups.
Things got worse for the Kings after Wembanyama checked back in following a quick rest at the 6:13 mark, immediately pouring in six points in just a minute to swell San Antonio’s lead to 28 points.
The Kings took a page from the New York Knicks’ playbook by putting De’Andre Hunter at the power forward position to keep Wembanyama out of the paint, but that adjustment proved futile after San Antonio head coach Mitch Johnson countered with Keldon Johnson.
By playing Johnson at the four position, the Spurs gave Sacramento a dose of its own medicine, forcing the Kings to endure two huge 3-pointers in the third quarter from last season’s Sixth Man of the Year.
With nothing clicking for the Kings, head coach Doug Christie decided to halt the embarrassment and pulled all his starters with nine minutes still left in regulation.
Wembanyama was unstoppable during the one-sided win, tallying 29 points on 14-of-21 shooting, 10 rebounds, five blocks, two assists, and two steals.
Julian Champagnie picked up where he left off, adding 26 points on an efficient 8-of-14 shooting from 3-point range, alongside three rebounds and three assists.
On the other hand, the trio of Hunter, Domantas Sabonis, and Zach LaVine combined for 66 points, but their offensive explosion wasn’t enough to contain the Spurs’ balanced offensive attack.
San Antonio will look to sustain its momentum against the Utah Jazz, while the Kings aim to pick up their first win of the season on Oct. 30 against the New Orleans Pelicans.
