Robert Bolick will finally make his 2023 PBA Governor’s Cup debut after signing a short-term contract extension with the NorthPort Batang Pier.
It was former head coach turned manager Pido Jarencio who confirmed the recent development inside the NorthPort camp after the squad fell as the worst team in the ongoing Governor’s Cup with a 0-4 record.
Bolick has not suited up for the Batang Pier in all those four games and is expected to carry NorthPort to its first-ever win against the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel on February 10, 2023.
His absence from the team during that four-game stretch was immediately felt after head coach Bonnie Tan struggled to find his main gunner when their import was having an off-game.
Despite Kent Salado and Roi Sumang stepping up to the challenge of picking up the team’s lack of scoring, Bolick’s almost 24 points per game were badly missed by the team.
However, Jarencio revealed that Bolick only signed a short-term deal good for one full season with the Batang Pier.
Bolick’s time with the team came into question when reports surfaced regarding his commitment to a Taiwanese team participating in their professional hoops league.
Those rumors will finally be put to rest after Batang Pier officially welcomed their superstar for the rest of the 47th PBA season.
This is still not the end of the tunnel for the Batang Pier if they manage to rack up more wins than losses in their next set of games.
Aside from Bolick boosting NorthPort, the franchise also underwent another import switch as they let go of Marcus Weathers for former San Miguel Beermen foreign reinforcement Kevin Murphy.
