Government services reached the doorsteps of Santa Teresa in Jordan, Guimaras residents as the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Guimaras joined the “Serbisyo sa Barangay” program spearheaded by the Local Civil Registry Office (LCRO) of Jordan on Aug. 12, 2025, at the Santa Teresa Multipurpose Gymnasium.
The initiative was part of the municipality’s commitment to making government services accessible, inclusive, and community-centered, especially in remote areas.
PSA Guimaras brought its National Identification System registration services to the event, allowing residents to apply for their National IDs without the added time and cost of traveling to the provincial registration center.
A total of 14 residents completed their registration for the National ID during the activity.
While modest in number, the turnout was expected as PSA Guimaras had already conducted several mobile registration activities in Santa Teresa in previous months and years, including house-to-house visits, covering the majority of its eligible population, said Provincial Statistics Officer Nelida B. Losare.
Losare led the Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) campaign, highlighting how PhilSys can simplify daily transactions, reduce the need to carry multiple IDs, and increase access to financial services, digital platforms, and government benefits.
In her discussion, she also stressed the importance of bringing National ID services closer to the community.
“Every registration matters. It’s one more person who will no longer need to stand in long queues in town centers for government or banking transactions. It’s one more person with a stronger identity footprint in the digital age,” Losare said.
“By meeting people where they are, we remove the barriers that often discourage them from registering, and we make sure no one is left behind,” she added.
The “Serbisyo sa Barangay” program transformed the Santa Teresa Multipurpose Gymnasium into a bustling hub of public service.
Residents took advantage of the one-stop setup, accessing a wide range of services in a single location through the participation of partner agencies, including PhilHealth Guimaras, the Municipal Engineer’s Office, the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office, the Municipal Treasurer’s Office, and the Municipal Assessor’s Office.
Health services also played a major role during the outreach, as the E-Consulta Caravan offered free medical checkups and consultations to residents.
The Municipal Agriculture Office contributed to the event’s livelihood component by distributing seedlings to promote household gardening and sustainable farming.
The LCRO of Jordan also distributed live birth certificates under the Birth Registration Assistance Project, making it easier for residents to secure vital civil registry documents without leaving the barangay.
Other participating offices addressed property records, tax assessments, and infrastructure concerns, ensuring that residents received a broad range of essential services in one visit.
The event drew strong support from local leaders.
Roger M. Reyes, punong barangay of Santa Teresa, welcomed participants and commended the agencies for prioritizing the community.
Jordan Mayor John Edward G. Gando and Vice Mayor Anna Philippa G. Nava both visited the venue to encourage residents to take advantage of the wide range of services available.
Municipal Civil Registrar Jesusa M. Millondaga expressed gratitude to all participating offices.
“This is the kind of inter-agency cooperation that truly benefits our constituents,” Millondaga said.
When government agencies work hand in hand, we remove the gaps in service delivery and bring meaningful assistance directly to the people who need it most, she added.
The “Serbisyo sa Barangay” in Santa Teresa is part of a series of outreach events under the municipality’s push to strengthen grassroots governance.
For PSA Guimaras, the activity was not only a step toward increasing National ID coverage in the province but also a reaffirmation of its mission—to make public service efficient, inclusive, and within everyone’s reach, Losare said.
