BACOLOD CITY – DYHB-Radio Mindanao Network broadcaster Prime Tejida is the 90th president of the Negros Press Club (NPC) after running unopposed during the club’s General Assembly and Election of Officers held Saturday, Jan. 17, 2026, at the NPC building.
Tejida’s team, bannering the slogan “NPC @ 90: Still at its PRIME,” scored a landslide victory.
Elected vice president was Lourd John Diaz, Tejida’s running mate, who defeated former NPC president Ambo Delilan.
Diaz garnered 85 votes, while Delilan received 30.
Other elected officers include Maureen Soliguen of FMR, who was unopposed after her opponent declined the nomination.
Winning as the club’s treasurer was Aksyon Radyo station manager Nona Magbanua with 91 votes, defeating PNA’s Nanette Guadalquiver, who received 30 votes.
Tejida’s board of directors – Mae Singuay, Eden Aboso, Chito Berjit, and Red Salgado – swept the four seats over three other nominees.
Also appointed without opposition during the general assembly were NPC past presidents Dolly Yasa, Carla Cañet, Teresa Ellera, and Yves Montecillo. They will comprise the Membership Committee tasked with screening membership applicants and reclassifying members no longer active in media practice.
Tejida, who succeeds outgoing president Mark Salanga, thanked members for their support and trust.
“It is an honor to lead the oldest surviving press organization in the Philippines,” she said.
“Thank you, because aside from me being unopposed, you also voted for my entire slate. It was a landslide victory once again.”
“I understand that I have big shoes to fill following the reMARKable leadership of Mark Gabriel Salanga,” she added.
She also declared, “On March 1, PRIMEtime will begin, because even at 90, the NPC is still at its PRIME!”
The new set of officers will officially assume office on March 1, 2026.
