The ZUS Coffee Thunderbelles continued their majestic start in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Reinforced Conference after besting defending champion Creamline, 25-27, 25-17, 25-20, 25-22, on Oct. 23, 2025, at the Filoil EcoOil Centre.
Fresh off a lopsided victory over the Galeries Tower Highrisers, the Thunderbelles picked up where they left off, sending the Cool Smashers to an unusual 2-2 start while improving to an undefeated 3-0 record to top Pool B.
American import Anna DeBeer unleashed a statement game against Creamline and exploded for a game-high 37-point performance built on 35 successful attacks.
DeBeer almost single-handedly answered every Creamline attack, flaunting her varied scoring ability, especially during that unreal offensive rampage in the pivotal second set.
After ZUS Coffee conceded the opening frame in a tightly-contested battle, DeBeer took matters into her own hands and started the following set waxing hot, converting her first four attacks off several cross-court plays.
DeBeer couldn’t be slowed down after the powerful outside hitter mounted a personal 6-2 scoring run, steering the Thunderbelles to a game-equalizing Set 2 victory.
Creamline tried to double its effort on the defensive end in hopes of neutralizing DeBeer’s attacking efficiency, but the experienced spiker couldn’t be contained and replicated her offensive masterclass in the third set.
As ZUS Coffee moved two points away from bagging a momentum-boosting 2-1 lead, head coach Jerry Yee urged his wards to keep feeding DeBeer, who paid the trust of the coaching staff after pummeling back-to-back hits to seal the third.
Too dominant while entering an unconscious offensive state, DeBeer continued to torch the Cool Smashers in the fourth, but Creamline didn’t back down and nearly staged a comeback when they took a one-point lead in the clutch, 19-20.
However, Thea Gagate equalized the affair at 20-all, while DeBeer and middle blocker AC Miner joined hands to build the game-winning 5-2 scoring run.
Aside from her stellar scoring performance, DeBeer also fortified ZUS Coffee’s floor coverage defense with 15 excellent receptions.
Backstopping the American star was Miner, who capped off the huge win with 13 markers built from seven successful attacks, while Jovelyn Gonzaga added six points and 12 excellent digs.
On the other hand, the Cool Smashers received 18 points and 11 excellent digs from import Courtney Schwan, while Alyssa Valdez chipped in 13 markers.
The Thunderbelles will look to extend their undefeated streak to four wins on Oct. 28 against the Petro Gazz Angels, while Creamline aims to rebound on the same date against Chery Tiggo.
