BACOLOD CITY — The Philippine Statistics Authority in Negros Occidental conducted field supervision for the 2025 Household Survey on Domestic Visitors as part of efforts to ensure the quality of data collection for tourism planning and policy development.
The press release was issued on May 11, 2026, under Reference No. PR2026-05-1845-74.
Statistical Analyst Rosendo Alva of the PSA Central Office supervised the survey activities on May 4, 2026, in Bacolod City and other parts of Negros Occidental.
The PSA is conducting the 2025 Household Survey on Domestic Visitors from May 4 to 26, 2026, including Saturdays and holidays.
The survey covers the reference period from January to December 2025.
The PSA said the survey aims to gather information on the profile and socioeconomic characteristics of domestic visitors.
It also seeks to collect details on their travels within the Philippines and abroad.
Alva was joined during the field supervision by Provincial Focal Person Aira Camille E. de la Banda and Assistant Focal Person Rose Ann L. Hernaez.
Team supervisors assigned in Bacolod City and Negros Occidental also joined the monitoring activity.
The team visited households in Hacienda Rosario Sur, Barangay Granada, Bacolod City.
They also visited households in Hacienda Escolastica, Barangay Mabini, Cadiz City.
During the visit, Alva observed actual enumeration activities.
He also interacted with respondents and assessed the data collection process.
The PSA said Alva addressed errors encountered during the supervision.
The main objective of the 2025 Household Survey on Domestic Visitors is to collect household-level data on domestic and international tourism.
The data will support the effective planning, development and implementation of tourism programs and policies.
The survey also aims to provide comprehensive information on domestic and international tourism for policymaking and decision-making purposes.
The activity forms part of PSA’s broader mandate to generate official statistics that guide government planning, investment decisions and public services.
Tourism data gathered through household surveys can help agencies better understand travel behavior, visitor spending patterns and mobility trends among Filipinos.
