BACOLOD CITY — The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Negros Occidental Provincial Statistical Office successfully organized the 36th Civil Registration Month Provincial Quiz Bee Elimination at its office for Local Civil Registry (LCR) personnel. The event drew the eager participation of LCR personnel from various cities and municipalities across the province.
The quiz bee is an annual event designed to promote awareness and enhance understanding of the civil registration and vital statistics (CRVS) system. The competition consisted of three rounds: 10 questions for the easy round, five questions for the average round and three questions for the difficult round, all focusing on CRVS topics.
The activity aimed to disseminate the importance of CRVS in governance, planning and development among the participants.
In the LCR edition, Ma. Lyn S. Panizales, representative of the Local Civil Registry Office of Victorias City, emerged as back-to-back champion. Riza Mae M. Ortegue from La Castellana and Angelica Nalam from Sipalay City placed second and third, respectively.
Michelle Chavez-Toledo from Sagay City placed fourth, while Monalisa D. Tabujara from Kabankalan City placed fifth and Joemark L. Rallos placed sixth.
Diesah S. Biaoco, supervising statistical specialist, expressed gratitude for the active participation of all the contestants. Statistical Specialist II Ramon M. Locsin thanked everyone who participated and looked forward to continued support for the event next year.
The Civil Registration Month is observed every February under Presidential Proclamation No. 682, signed in 1991, to promote public awareness of the importance of civil registration in national development. The CRVS system serves as the foundation for establishing legal identity, enabling citizens to access government services, exercise their rights and participate in democratic processes.
