The Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) finally revealed the names of their prestigious Mr. and Ms. Basketball awardees.
Due to their stellar outing on the hardwood through the years, the PSA selected Thirdy Ravena of the Ateneo Blue Eagles as Mr. Basketball and Jack Animam of the National University as Ms. Basketball.
Ravena was named finals MVP three straight times after leading the Blue Eagles to three straight UAAP men’s basketball championships.
Meanwhile, Animam together with her Lady Bulldogs capped off a historic six straight UAAP women’s basketball title and cemented their names as the only team to have a 6-peat in the women’s division.
It was an easy choice for the PSA committee as both Ravena and Animam made it clear they were the obvious picks for the award.
Also, NU Bulldogs head coach Pat Aquino will be named as the Coach of the Year as the mastermind behind NU’s 6-peat together with Animam.
