The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Guimaras Fixed Registration Center (FRC) is actively engaged in updating and correcting the demographic information of registrants in the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys).
The updating aligns with Section 11 of Republic Act No. 11055, also known as the PhilSys Act, which mandates individuals to keep their registration information current.
“The ongoing effort is by Section 11 of Republic Act No. 11055, also known as the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) Act, which mandates registered individuals to keep their registration information up to date, making changes or corrections to data stored within the PhilSys database,” said Provincial Statistics Officer Nelida B. Losare.
To update their demographic information, individuals must bring their PhilID or ePhilID and provide original supporting documents that substantiate the requested changes or corrections. “This ensures the accuracy and validity of the updated information,” Losare added.
PhilSys updating services allow individuals to modify various demographic details, including name, marital status, gender, date or place of birth, address, blood type, and corrections of clerical or typographical errors.
However, Losare emphasized that the process does not include the deletion of data.
“By allowing updates and corrections, the system maintains its reliability and usefulness for identification and verification purposes. The exclusion of data deletion from this process is intended to preserve the integrity and continuity of the records within the system,” she said.
Deleting data could lead to gaps or inconsistencies in a person’s identification record, affecting their ability to use the National ID for various services and transactions.
“Therefore, while updates and corrections are allowed to enhance accuracy, the deletion of data is not permitted to ensure that each individual’s record remains complete and functional,” Losare said.
The PSA began the gradual rollout of demographic information updates in the National ID system across selected provinces on May 17, 2024.
Guimaras officially commenced its PhilSys updating activities on June 17, 2024.
Additionally, PSA PhilSys Guimaras continues its operations for national ID registration, catering to individuals aged one year and above.
The FRC also accepts requests for PhilID card replacements due to issues such as peeled-off photos, ensuring the integrity of the issued identification card.
Recognizing the challenges faced by registrants in geographically isolated or disadvantaged areas, a mobile registration team actively visits these locations.
“The efforts of PSA Guimaras underscore their commitment to maintaining accurate and updated demographic information within the PhilSys, ensuring that all registered individuals have access to reliable and secure National ID services across the province,” Losare said.
