KABANKALAN CITY — The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Negros Occidental and Central Philippine State University (CPSU) – Main Campus held a coordination meeting on Feb. 9, 2026, to prepare for the upcoming Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) Training on Basic Statistics for Local Government Units (LGUs).
The meeting brought together PSA Negros Occidental Senior Statistical Specialist Jerome C. Cadayona and Statistical Analysts Joevilyn S. Ariesga and Christian Leonard Amario, who met with Dr. Marfy C. Cabayao, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) of CPSU.
Supervising Statistical Specialist Diesah S. Biaoco of the Philippine Statistics Office (PSO) Negros Occidental also joined the session virtually to help ensure a seamless partnership for local development.
CPSU’s BS Statistics Coordinator Girlie P. Villanueva introduced the team that will facilitate the training, while CAS staff, the research coordinator, and administrative representatives also expressed their support for the collaborative initiative with the PSA.
Ariesga provided an overview of the meeting and introduced the PSA team led by Cadayona.
As part of the training preparation, Cadayona presented an overview of the CBMS and the proposed course outline for the three-day training program, which will guide resource persons in developing aligned presentation materials and practical exercises.
The meeting focused on aligning roles and responsibilities, finalizing training arrangements, and ensuring the smooth and effective delivery of the program.
The coordination meeting also aimed to harmonize the training outline, technical requirements, and implementation strategies for the planned activities.
Biaoco expressed her appreciation to the CPSU team for the successful conduct of the coordination meeting, emphasizing the importance of the partnership in ensuring the effective implementation of the planned activities.
The CAS Dean likewise extended his gratitude, noting that the collaboration had long been in the planning stage, and expressed optimism for the continuation of the partnership and hope to sustain collaboration through future joint activities.
The collaboration between PSA and CPSU is intended to strengthen statistical capacity and promote data-driven decision-making at the local level across Negros Occidental.
The CBMS is a government-mandated system used to collect data at the community level, enabling LGUs to generate localized statistics for planning, program targeting, and resource allocation.
