BACOLOD CITY — Philippine Statistics Authority National Statistician and Civil Registrar General Usec. Claire Dennis S. Mapa recently supervised fieldwork for the January 2026 Labor Force Survey and the 2025 Family Income and Expenditure Survey Visit 2 in Barangay Granada, including a visit to a sample household, the agency said in a press release dated Feb. 7, 2026.
The field supervision formed part of the PSA’s efforts to ensure the quality of data gathered from households for two of the government’s major statistical surveys, according to the Negros Occidental Provincial Statistical Office.
The PSA is currently conducting the January 2026 LFS to collect demographic and socio-economic data from households nationwide.
The LFS serves as the primary instrument for monitoring labor market indicators, including unemployment rates, labor force participation, and average hours worked, the PSA said.
Alongside the LFS, the PSA is also conducting the 2025 FIES Visit 2, which it said provides a comprehensive look at the nation’s financial condition.
The FIES gathers detailed data on family income sources, expenditure patterns, and consumption levels that the PSA said are critical for policymaking and development planning.
During the supervision visit, Mapa was joined by OIC-Regional Director John F. Campomanes, Supervising Statistical Specialist Diesah S. Biaoco, and Provincial Focal Person Resty John M. Bancruz.
The team visited households in Hacienda Rosario Norte, Barangay Granada, Bacolod City, the PSA said.
The PSA said Mapa observed actual enumeration activities, interacted with respondents, and assessed the data collection process as part of field supervision.
He emphasized the importance of accurate and reliable data gathering and strict compliance with established survey procedures, according to the release.
The PSA said Mapa expressed his appreciation to field personnel for their dedication and commitment, citing their role in producing high-quality statistics.
