BACOLOD CITY, Philippines — Twenty-eight new police recruits from the Zamboanga region officially joined the Police Regional Office–Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) after taking their oath of office last Friday, Dec. 26.
The group includes 20 men and eight women assigned under this year’s Additional Attrition and Regular Recruitment Program, which fills vacancies and strengthens staffing in police units.
PRO-NIR director, Police Brig. Gen. Arnold Thomas Ibay, led the oath-taking and turnover ceremonies at the PRO-NIR administrative building inside Camp Alfredo M. Montelibano Sr. in Barangay Estefania.
In his message, Ibay called the event a milestone marking the recruits’ formal entry into public service.
He acknowledged the sacrifices they made in leaving their families in the Zamboanga region to serve in Negros Island, saying it reflects dedication to national service and the core values of the Philippine National Police (PNP).
“This is a heartfelt commitment to serve the Filipino people with honor, discipline, and integrity,” Ibay said.
He reminded the new officers that wearing the PNP uniform is both a privilege and a responsibility, and that they are duty-bound to uphold the law, protect human rights, and serve the public with fairness, humility, and compassion.
Ibay said their induction goes beyond ceremony and affirms vigilance, accountability, and the mission of maintaining peace and order to help build a safer Negros Island.
The 28 recruits add to the 393 newly appointed PRO-NIR personnel inducted this month.
