BACOLOD CITY—The Police Regional Office–Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) has maximized the deployment of its personnel to barangays to strengthen grassroots engagement and promote responsive, community-centered policing.
A total of 50 police personnel who successfully completed training under the Revitalized Pulis sa Barangay Program (R-PSB) will be deployed to key barangays across the region to serve as the primary link between the police and local communities, ensuring a visible, accessible and people-oriented police presence.
Personnel from the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO) will be assigned to Barangay Oringao in Kabankalan City.
Police from the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office will be deployed to Barangay Barras in Mabinay and Barangay Tayawan in Bayawan City.
Members of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion will be assigned to Barangay Marcelo in Calatrava, Negros Occidental.
Personnel from the Siquijor Police Provincial Office will be deployed to Barangay Sabang in Siquijor.
Police Brig. Gen. Arnold Thomas Ibay, PRO-NIR directorled the send-off ceremony at NOCPPO headquarters’ Kanlaon Hall on Friday.
The ceremony was attended by Owen De Luna, director of the National Police Commission–Negros Island Region.
“To our R-PSB teams, you carry with you the badge of authority, but more importantly, the responsibility to listen, to understand, and to serve with compassion and integrity. Hindi lamang kayo mga tagapagpatupad ng batas, kundi kayo rin ay mga tagapagtatag ng kapayapaan, mga simbolo ng pag-asa sa mga pamayanang inyong paglilingkuran,” Ibay said in his message.
By deploying personnel to conflict-affected and remote barangays, PRO–NIR aims to build trust, encourage collaboration and address security concerns at their roots through a whole-of-nation and whole-of-community approach.
“Ang inyong kilos, disiplina, at dedikasyon ang magsisilbing batayan kung paano makikita at mararamdaman ng taumbayan ang Pambansang Pulisya ng Pilipinas. So please remain steadfast in professionalism, respectful of local customs, and responsive to the needs of the community,” Ibay said.
Ibay said the send-off ceremony marked not only the deployment of police teams but also a renewed promise of service, as the RPSB program embodies the collective resolve to bring policing closer to communities that need it most.
He added that the RPSB is a strategic initiative that reaffirms the police’s role as guardians of peace, community partners and servants of the nation, grounded in strong police–community cooperation.
