Captain Jose Edcar Pequierda of Pototan, Iloilo from the class of 1997 of the Philippine Merchant Marine Academy, finished strong in the 2019 Ironman Barcelona.
The final leg of the 2019 full-distance triathlon trilogy (Ireland-Germany-Spain), Capt. Pequierda conquered the sea, the two-wheels, and the running event.
Capt. Pequierda finished his swimming in 1:12:53, 5:45:44 in his biking, and 4:41:49 during the running leg.
With almost 3,000 participants in the prized Ironman event, the pride of Pototan ranked 1,756th place out of the 2,928 qualifiers, and 1,616th place out of 2,566 by Gender.
The swimming event distance was 3.8 km, a very tiring 180 km for the biking event, and 42.2 km in the running event.
