Police on full alert after Sulu blast

BACOLOD City – Although there is no imminent threat of terror attacks, the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo) remains on full alert following the deadly blast in Sulu on June 28, 2019 that killed three soldiers and two suspected terrorists.

Police Major Edison Garcia, Nocppo’s public information officer, said on Tuesday, that all field units were ordered to be vigilant and ready.

Last Friday, two alleged suicide bombers attacked the tactical command post of the Philippine Army’s 1st Brigade Combat Team at Barangay Kajatian, Indanan in Sulu. At least 12 other soldiers and civilians were also wounded.

Garcia said they are not discounting anything but they assured that they are ready.

“We are prepared for any eventualities,” he added.

Garcia said they even deployed more personnel in border control areas, entry and exit points, and in other areas of convergence to prevent entry of suspicious individuals.

We also strengthened our police visibility patrol in all cities and towns in the province, he added.
