Police chief wants to remove traffic office from headquarters

BACOLOD City – Police Colonel Noel Aliño, director of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), is planning to remove the Bacolod Traffic Authority Office (BTAO) inside the compound of the BCPO headquarters here.

In a press briefing at the BCPO headquarters yesterday, Aliño said that this move was due to security reasons in the camp.

“Labas masok kasi ang mga tao dito,” Aliño said, as he stressed that it could affect the security of the camp.

Aliño said that he had already informed Mayor Alfredo “Albee” Benitez about his plan.

“Baka naman puwede huwag na rito sa compound kasi wala naman akong control sa kanila,” he added.

Aliño said that his plan is not related to the rift between BTAO head Police Major Junji Liba and Councilor Al Espino which led to threats of shooting and bodily harm.

“Ayoko ng ganoong issue. Ayokong makisali,” he added.

The BCPO is conducting an investigation into their misunderstanding, but the BCPO has yet to reveal the result of the investigation.

Aliño noted that he is most concerned about the camp security. “Mahigpit kami. Meron kaming camp defense plan tapos magugulat kami may nakakapasok na mga civilians dahil may mga tumutubos ng mga impounded vehicles,” he said.

He said that the bulk of impounded vehicles in the compound is somehow an eyesore already.

He said that if the city government approves it, the space that will be vacated by BTAO will be given to other offices occupying limited space at the headquarters.
