The Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) appointed Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) Commissioner Ramon Fernandez as the Chef de Mission of the Philippines for the 31st Southeast Asian Games in Hanoi, Vietnam.
During its first executive board meeting led by President Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino, the former PBA legend was hailed for the prestigious position.
“I’m humbled and honored to be appointed. I will work hard to live up to the challenge and duplicate the success that chairman Butch Ramirez was able to accomplish. With his help and guidance, we will still be able to perform well in Vietnam,” said Fernandez.
As the Chef de Mission for the upcoming SEA Games, Fernandez will oversee the whole preparation of the athletes and make sure that they will have their needs for the training.
Previously, it was PSC chairman William Ramirez who was named as Chef de Mission during the 2019 SEA Games where they racked up a total of 149 gold medals and the overall championship.
With that being said, Fernandez said he will try to do the same and give the Philippines another victorious SEA Games campaign and defend their overall title in Hanoi.
