The PLDT High-Speed Hitters dominated the Cignal HD Spikers, 25-19, 25-13, 25-22, in the ongoing Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Invitational Conference on Aug, 23, 2025, at the Philsports Arena in Pasig.
With the lopsided win, the High-Speed Hitters kept their unblemished record since ruling the PVL On Tour conference and improved to 2-0 in the Invitationals.
PLDT picked up where they left off after stomping the Chery Tiggo Crossovers in their debut win and is yet to drop a single set heading to their third scheduled game.
The High-Speed Hitters welcomed the return of Savannah Davison, Kim Kianna Dy, and Kim Fajardo, who were all absent in their win against Chery Tiggo.
Playing with a full and healthy lineup, the On Tour queens blitzed to a quick start in the opener and relied on their crisp offensive sets orchestrated by Fajardo.
Benefiting from Fajardo’s on-point ball distribution were Davison and Alleiah Malaluan who spearheaded PLDT’s point of attack from the corners.
With nothing going on for the Chery Tiggo offense, PLDT dropped the hammer with back-to-back points to gain an early 1-0 lead.
Despite defensive adjustments from Chery Tiggo, especially on their floor coverage, PLDT’s waxing hot attack proved to be too much, with the duo of Dy and Majoy Baron joining the party midway through the second.
The 1-2 punch maintained what Davison and Malaluan started as they piled up most of their points from off-the-block kills and running attacks from the backline.
Chery Tiggo had one last chance to survive in the match, but their costly unforced errors held them back and rewarded PLDT with a bunch of freebie points.
Davison capped off her return with a stellar 17-point performance off 14 attacks, including two blocks and a service ace, while Malaluan added 12 markers.
The High-Speed Hitters will look to notch their fourth consecutive win and protect their untainted record today, against the Japanese team guest Kobe Shinwa University.
