Guimarasnons, are you ready?
Players’ Center is bringing Guimaras its largest-ever one-day 3×3 basketball tournament: the “Guimaras Grind: 3×3 Street Kings,” set for Aug. 25, 2025, at Calaya Gym in Nueva Valencia.
Dr. Richard Gabayoyo, founder of Players’ Center, said the Guimaras Grind will draw hundreds of aspiring Guimarasnon basketball players.
This marks a historic moment in the province’s 3×3 basketball scene.
“Amo ini ang pinakadamo nga participants in the history sang 3×3 Guimaras since nga one-day event lang siya,” Dr. Gabayoyo said in an exclusive interview with the Daily Guardian.
“The staging of this event in the province simply shows that Guimarasnons are basketball fanatics.”
The tournament will feature three categories: 15-under boys (born 2010), 18-under boys (born 2007), and 18-under girls (born 2007).
A total of 59 teams have already confirmed participation.
There are 31 teams in the 18-under boys, nine in the 18-under girls, and 19 in the 15-under boys.
Dr. Gabayoyo added that the tournament will showcase Guimarasnon varsity players currently playing in Iloilo City, as well as grassroots hoopers training under the Players’ Center development program.
Aside from Calaya Gym, he is also coordinating with San Antonio Gym to accommodate the large number of participants.
“Above all, they believe in the basketball developmental program, as shown in the number of participating teams,” Dr. Gabayoyo said.
“Thank you to all SBP and NBTC coaches from Guimaras and the barangays who accommodated our request to bring this event to their communities.”
