Power forward PJ Washington secured an extension with the Dallas Mavericks after signing a four-year PHP 5.1 billion (US$90 million) contract announced on Sept. 4, 2025.
The development was verified by ESPN’s veteran NBA insider Shams Charania, who added that the terms of the deal- including final-year options and eligibility clauses- were not disclosed.
With the agreed four-year deal, Washington will remain at the helm of the Dallas organization until the off-season of the 2029-2030 NBA season.
Washington’s extension came after the Mavericks locked-in superstar point guard Kyrie Irving and defensive center Daniel Gafford to respective deals just a month ago.
Irving, who is still rehabilitating after sustaining a torn Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury, inked a $43-million player option while Gafford signed a three-year, $60-million deal.
Since getting shipped by the Charlotte Hornets mid-season last year, Washington has been playing consistent basketball after receiving a more structured role under head coach Jason Kidd.
Washington had his role redefined from a slashing swingman to a stretch-four, posing numerous mismatches for the opposing team’s big men with his ability to shoot from deep and stretch the floor.
The forward remained one of the key cogs for the Mavericks after averaging 14.7 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 2.3 assists last season.
He was also a member of the Dallas squad that bagged the Western Conference Finals title, but fell in the NBA Finals against the powerhouse Boston Celtics team.
Washington joins a formidable Dallas front-court cast led by Anthony Davis, Derek Lively, Gafford, and the No. 1 overall pick in this year’s NBA draft, Cooper Flagg.
