Filipino Mixed Martial Artist (MMA) rising star Stephen “The Sniper” Loman is finally getting his long-awaited break in ONE Fighting Championship.
After putting on a show in his first two bouts against Yusup Saadulaev via knockout and another convincing performance against veteran fighter Shoko Sato, the hard-hitting Pinoy is tasked to take down former bantamweight world champion Bibiano Fernandes.
ONE FC confirmed that Loman will be fighting Fernandes on Nov 19, 2022 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium for the upcoming ONE Fight Night 4 event.
One year ago, Loman left BRAVE Combat Federation as its longest-reigning bantamweight champion and decided to take his talents to The Home of Martial Arts.
The Team Lakay prized fighter then didn’t disappoint and picked up where he left off at BRAVE when he took ONE FC by storm.
“I’m so happy for this opportunity. Now the people will get to see the results of all the hard work and training that I’ve done. I’m truly excited for this bout,” Loman said.
Meanwhile, Fernandes, who held the bantamweight belt before, is trying to redeem himself after coming off a devastating loss against John Lineker.
Fernandes lost his championship belt to Lineker seven months ago when he suffered a shocking second-round knockout loss.
Lineker landed a vicious left hook at the 1:21 mark of the second round that immediately put Fernandes on the canvass. Fernandes attempted to get up but the referee was quick to step in and waive off the fight.
“We all know Bibiano hasn’t experienced defeat in a long time. Of course that loss will certainly serve as a big lesson for him. Either way, we’re preparing for him to the best that we can.” Team Lakay coach Mark Sangiao said.
