Nearly PHP7 million worth of illegal drugs were seized during a series of anti-drug operations in Iloilo City from May 1 to 15.
Reports from the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) showed that 1.016 kilograms of suspected shabu worth PHP6,913,196 and 67 grams of marijuana valued at PHP8,144 were confiscated.
The illegal drugs were recovered in 17 operations, which led to the arrest of 21 drug personalities.
Of those arrested, nine were classified as high-value individuals, 11 were street-level pushers, and one was a minor.
The Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit (RPDEU) 6, recently reactivated, confiscated the largest volume of illegal drugs.
In coordination with ICPO units, RPDEU-6 seized 400 grams of suspected shabu.
The ICPO City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) recovered 358 grams.
Iloilo City Police Station 7 confiscated 151 grams, followed by ICPS10 with 58 grams, ICPS2 with 36 grams, and ICPS9 with nearly 7 grams.
Col. Kim Legada, Iloilo City police chief, praised the personnel involved for their diligence and commitment in the continuing fight against illegal drugs.
“Every gram of drugs seized represents a future saved, a family protected, and a community cared for,” Legada said.
“Let us continue to intensify our campaign and exert extra effort to end the menace of illegal drugs.”
He emphasized that complacency has no place in the drug war.
“Don’t let a single day pass in silence in this fight,” he said.
“Our complacency today will define the future of the next generation.”
