Your two pesos matters.
This is what Police Regional Office (PRO)-6’s non-commissioned officers (NCOs) pointed out as they vowed to continue their existing program to help their fellow NCOs who got wounded or killed in the line of service.
All Provincial and City Executive Senior Police Officers and chief clerks of the regional divisions convened on November 19 at Camp Martin Delgado, Iloilo City to update their existing “Piso Para sa PNCO” program.
Police Executive Master Sergeant Dennis Quema, the Regional Executive Senior Police Officer (RESPO), said that the gathering was also a venue for them to select the new set of officers for PRO6 “Piso Para sa PNCO” board of trustees.
The board is expected to ensure transparency and continuity of the program.
Created during the incumbency of Retired Police Executive Master Sergeant Abemel Obordo, the Piso Para sa PNCO program is an initiative akin to “Bayanihan” spirit where all non-commissioned officers voluntarily contribute P2 monthly.
The collected amount is intended to be given as cash assistance to their fellow PNCOs who are wounded in police operation (WIPO) or killed in police operation (KIPO).
Quema said the program is one way of showing PRO6 personnel’s concern to their fellow PNCOs.
“It’s one way to lighten the burden of the families who were left behind due to the death of their loved ones in line of police duty,” he said.
It also aims to provide cash assistance for medication of personnel who were wounded or hurt while performing their duty.
From March 2017 until March 2020, the program was able to disburse P330,000.
P210,000 was given to 10 personnel who were wounded and killed in action.
On the other hand, P120,000 was given to personnel of the 601st Company of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 6 (RFMB-6) who were killed and wounded in a vehicular accident on Feb. 29, 2020 at Ginomoy, Alimodian, Iloilo.
Quema has also assured his fellow senior non-commissioned officers that the program will continue, as it was proven to help and lift the morale of the personnel.
