BACOLOD CITY — Police arrested a 30-year-old man tagged as a high-value individual in a buy-bust operation that yielded 90 grams of suspected shabu worth PHP 612,000 in Barangay 10 on Sunday.
The City Drug Enforcement Unit arrested the suspect, identified only as “Pol,” a resident of the village.
Police Lt. Richard Legada, the unit’s officer in charge, said it was the suspect’s first apprehension for a drug offense.
Legada said the suspect allegedly engaged in the illegal drug trade for three years as a source of income.
He said police conducted monitoring and surveillance for three weeks before launching the operation.
The suspect was detained at Police Station 2.
The Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region said the operation was part of its continuing intensified campaign to dismantle drug networks and prevent the resurgence of illegal drug operations across the region.
It said it remains committed to sustaining operational pressure, strengthening partnerships and protecting communities from illegal drugs.
