BACOLOD CITY — Authorities arrested a 26-year-old man after seizing about 80 grams of suspected shabu valued at PHP 544,000 during a buy-bust operation in Purok Bolinao, Barangay 1, here on Tuesday.
The suspect, identified only by the alias “Boyboy,” is a resident of the said barangay.
Police Lt. Richard Legada, officer in charge of the City Drug Enforcement Unit, said the suspect allegedly began engaging in the illegal drug trade in November last year, earning about PHP 2,000 for every five grams of shabu sold.
Legada said the suspect was not listed on the barangay’s drug watch list but was classified as a high-value individual based on the volume of illegal drugs recovered.
The arrest marked the suspect’s first drug-related offense, according to Legada, adding that he is currently detained at Police Station 2 and will face charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
The Police Regional Office–Negros Island Region vowed to relentlessly pursue drug personalities through sustained and intelligence-driven operations, with the aim of systematically dismantling drug networks at all levels and enforcing the law with firmness, integrity, and accountability.
Guided by due process and respect for human rights, the regional office said these efforts seek to ensure public safety and security while preserving public trust in law enforcement.
