The Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) and SM City Iloilo are inviting the public to visit the National Heritage Month (NHM) Philatelic Stamp Exhibit displayed at the lower ground level of SM Northpoint until May 15, 2023.
The exhibit was unveiled by Museum Director and National Commission for Culture and the Arts Executive Council Member Irene Magallon, who delivered the inspirational message on behalf of NCCA Executive Director, Oscar G Casaysay, Assistant Postmaster General for Management Support Services Atty. Benjie Yotoko, Western Visayas Postal Area Director Donabelle Asuncion, SM Iloilo Mall Manager Engr. Gilbert Domingo, and Department of Tourism Admin Officer Keziah Faith Anas.
Also present during the event are Business Lines Dept. Manager Chat Adriano, Philately Chief Zenaida Trambulo, and Marketing Specialist Tess Planco.
The exhibit showcases collections of historical stamps ranging from flowers, animals, national heroes, and entertainment icons to Olympic medalists and more.
The event also highlights the Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) issuance of special stamps “Kalayaan ay Pamana” with the Filipino Heritage Festival Inc. (FHFI), in line with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) in commemorating #NationalHeritageMonth 2023.
“Kalayaan ay Pamana” presents eight (8) historic buildings that are venues vital to the narrative of Philippine independence.
These heritage structures are directly associated with the birth of the Filipino nation, the first democracy and constitutional republic in the whole of Asia.
The postage stamps also reflect the country’s long-standing traditions, cultural values, or political systems that endure despite changes that may occur in other areas. Its continuity provides a sense of stability and a connection to the past and helps to shape the development of societies and cultures for generations to come.
