PHL women’s football squad repeats mastery over Fiji in friendly match

The Philippine Women’s National Football team handed Fiji back-to-back drubbing losses as they scored another win in their second friendly match, 8-0.

It was a crisper and sharper outing for the Filipinas compared to their first game against Fiji and were just in attack mode the whole 90 minutes of the match.

Striker Sofia Harrison kicked off the offensive party after sending in Philippines’ first goal 10 minutes into the match after effortlessly swishing in a short-distance conversion.

The star of the first friendly match, Quinley Quezada, continued her magic as she doubled their lead 15 minutes after Harrison’s score.

However, a new revelation in Katrina Guillou stole the show and finished the match with a hat-trick when she scored a brace in the first half and another one in the 54th minute.

Guillou’s efficient striking and speed posed huge problems for the Fiji backline as she just shot past the defense the whole game.

Capping off Philippines’ eight-goal performance were scores from Carleigh Frilles in the 49th minute and Isabella Flanigan’s emphatic long kick in the 60th minute.

Aside from Fiji, coach Stajcic and the Philippines Football Federation (PFF) confirmed that they will still have a series of friendly games before flying to Hanoi, Vietnam for their final preparation phase.

The set friendly matches are a part of the PHL women’s football squad’s last series of preparations for the upcoming 2022 Southeast Asian Games.
