THE Philippine junior girls’ tennis team composed of Alexa Joy Milliam, Alexandra Eala, and Jenaila Prulla seized 5th place in the 2019 World Junior Tennis Championships in the Czech Republic last August 10, 2019.
Out of the 97 competing nations, Philippines went through the adversary they can to notch the fifth and set up a clash against Japan and won, resulting in their best finish in the tournament ever since.
The Philippines were able to come back and handle the slugging match Japan gave to them.
In the first singles, Japan dismantled Milliam in a 2-6, 3-6, straight sets fashion win.
In the do-or-die match, Eala rallied back from 7-8 in the last set and sealed the game, 6-2, 3-6, 11-9.
In the decider, Eala and Milliam teamed up for the doubles and were pushed by the Japanese to a tie-break, where the PH doubles bagging the win and have a 5th place finish.
