The Philippines signed five business agreements with Cambodia during President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s state visit from September 7 to 8.
The deals are expected to create jobs, open training opportunities, and expand markets for Filipinos in key industries.
Sectors covered include aviation, logistics, food and beverage, women-led micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), and institutional cooperation.
A highlight was the memorandum of understanding (MOU) between WCC Aeronautical and Technological College of the Philippines and Cambodia’s Overseas Cambodian Investment Corporation (OCIC).
The partnership will establish WCC AeroTech University in Phnom Penh to address Cambodia’s aviation skills gap while providing opportunities for Filipino educators and experts.
In logistics, Airspeed International Corp. entered into a service agreement with Cambodia’s Bright Star Logistics.
The deal will manage international shipments, outsourced operations, and cross-trade through a profit-sharing model to strengthen regional supply chains.
For food and beverage, Destileria Limtuaco & Co. signed an agreement with Aus Khmer Import Export Co., Ltd.
The partnership will promote, import, and distribute Filipino distilled spirits in Cambodia, benefiting local distillers and farmers.
On women empowerment, Women Entrepreneurs’ Network – Women Business Council Philippines (WomenBizPH) partnered with Cambodia Women Entrepreneurs Network (CamWEN).
The MOU will co-organize the ASEAN Amazing Weaves Competition to showcase textile craftsmanship and support women-led MSMEs.
Furthering institutional cooperation, the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Business Association in Cambodia (PhilCham) signed an MOU with the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce (CCC).
The agreement creates a framework for promoting trade, encouraging dialogue, and organizing joint business events and missions.
Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Cristina A. Roque welcomed the deals as investments that directly uplift Filipino workers.
“When our companies bring their strengths to ASEAN, it means new jobs for Filipino workers, demand for our educators and entrepreneurs, and greater pride in what we can offer the world,” Roque said.
“These partnerships reflect Bagong Pilipinas in action: turning diplomacy into real opportunities for our people,” she added.
President Marcos Jr. underscored the importance of the agreements during the Philippines-Cambodia CEO Roundtable.
“The partnership agreements here generates jobs, stimulate investment, encourage innovation, and promote inclusive, sustainable growth,” Marcos said.
