PH exporters urged to grab opportunities in Latin America

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), through its Export Marketing Bureau (EMB), Foreign Trade Service Corps (FTSC), and the Philippine Trade and Investment Center (PTIC) in Mexico is urging Philippine exporters to sell to Latin America market as the three government agencies are setting up a webinar for PH exporters interested in developing trade relations with Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, and Chile.  The webinar entitled “Philippine Export Opportunities in Latin America” will be held on July 28, 2020, via Zoom, from 8:00 am to 10:00 am.

 

“The webinar is an ideal opportunity for companies interested in doing business in Latin America. For beginners as well as experienced companies, it is useful to connect to stakeholders in the field and gain important information on how to do business with and in Latin America,” DTI-EMB Director Senen M. Perlada said.

 

“Latin America is a market of over 600 million consumers with opportunities for Philippine exports of processed food, personal care products, and other fast-moving consumer items,” he added.

 

Topics include Business Opportunities in the Natural & Organics Sector Trading with Amazon Online in Mexico by Mr. Eduardo Aviles, Director of Bionutrients International; Business Opportunities in Argentina by Mr. Martin Mansur an Economist of Camara Del Asia; Business Opportunities in Brazil by Mr. Leonardo A.F. Palhares, President of Brazilian Coconut Institute; and, Chilean Market & Opportunities Overview by Mr. Gerardo Velasco, President of Chile-ASEAN Chamber of Commerce; and The Orange Economy: Opportunities in ITES Columbia by Ms. Rowena Bagadion, Chairman and CEO of W Bagadion Consulting.

 

The event will be moderated by DTI Foreign Trade Service Officer Vichael Angelo Roaring, Head of PTIC Mexico, attached to the Philippine Embassy in Mexico where he also serves as Commercial Counselor.

 

According to him, “This activity is a means of reintroducing Philippine business to Latin America. Several centuries ago, the galleon trade was the first means of global commerce that enabled cross-continental trade from Asia to Mexico and the rest of New Spain. Now, we are challenged to reinvigorate our trade links with this region as our country, because of the culture and history we share with this region, is a very ideal trade partner for Mexico and the rest of Latin America.”

 

Philippine Ambassadors in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, and Mexico will be joining the speakers in the Q&A portion of the program.
