The TNT Tropang 5G just reloaded its roster for the upcoming PBA conference after signing veteran skipper Kevin Ferrer to a one-year deal, confirmed on Sept. 8, 2025.
It was the TNT franchise that officially announced its off-season development in a social media post, welcoming the free agent who was released by the Terrafirma Dyip.
Ferrer’s departure from Terrafirma came after the management engaged in selling their franchise to the Starhorse Shipping Lines last July, which eventually became unsuccessful.
During the past three seasons, the former University of Santo Tomas (UST) superstar entered a roller coaster in the PBA after injuries hounded his career.
Ferrer was sidelined for the whole 2023 PBA season due to a ruptured Achilles tendon and made his comeback midseason the next year.
Despite suffering a major injury, Ferrer still flashed his efficiency with the Dyip as he provided steady offensive numbers coming off the bench.
Although the combo forward played inconsistent minutes, he made the most out of his presence inside the hardwood, knocking down spot-up three-pointers while also taking on the challenge of defending multiple positions.
Now that Ferrer is back in a title-contending team, the swingman is expected to immediately make an impact under the tutelage of head coach Chot Reyes, his former mentor when he was still a part of the Gilas Pilipinas men’s national basketball team pool.
The Tropang 5G is coming off a missed opportunity to achieve a Grand Slam feat when they faltered in their finals series against the hungrier San Miguel Beermen several months ago.
Ferrer will backstop the talented forward TNT pool of Calvin Oftana, Glenn Khobuntin, Mike Nieto, and Kim Aurin.
“Free agent Kevin Ferrer is taking his talents to TNT Tropang 5G! The veteran wing has signed a 1-year deal. Welcome to the KaTropa family!” TNT posted on their official Facebook account.
