PATH TO NEW NORMAL: Iloilo City gov’t resumes face-to-face activities as quarantine level eases

After months of conducting activities in online platforms, the Iloilo City government has finally shifted to face-to-face activities following the de-escalation of the city’s quarantine level from Alert Level 3 to Level 2.

Iloilo City government conducted its first face-to-face flag ceremony this year on Feb 28, 2022 at the City Hall building grounds in front of the Plaza Libertad which is currently undergoing renovation.

Mayor Jerry Treñas led the flag ceremony on Monday alongside thousands of City Hall employees.

“Ini ang pinakauna nga flag ceremony nga ginhiwat naton humalin sang pila ka bulan nga aton pakigbatò sa pandemya kag ang pinakauna nga pag-atubang ko sa tanan naton nga empleyado sa sini nga tuig,” Treñas said during his speech during the flag ceremony.

The mayor thanked the City Hall employees who continued to render their services despite the onset of the pandemic.

He also paid his respects to employees who succumbed to Covid-19.

“Nagpasalamat guid ako sa tanan naton nga mga empleyado nga nagrisgo sang ila kabuhi para padayon nga magserbisyo sa tunga sang mga pagtilaw nga aton gin-atubang. Gapasalamat ko sa tanan nga empleyado, maskin budlay aton ginaatubang gintungahan niyo gid ang aton mga dalan, tinlo man gihapon, markets matinlo man gihapon,” he said.

On Tuesday, March 1, 2022, the Sangguniang Panlungsod also conducted its first face-to-face session for this year after months of online sessions.

According to the mayor, the city is slowly transitioning to the new normal following its de-escalation to a more relaxed Alert Level 2 classification from March 1 to March 15.

Despite this, the mayor urged employees to urge their family, relatives, and friends to have themselves vaccinated and avail of Covid-19 booster shots.

He also urged parents to have their children aged 5 to 11 years old vaccinated as a protection against Covid-19. (DG)
