ROXAS CITY, Capiz – An estimated P200,000 worth of properties was lost to a fire that gobbled a house at Conchita Compound, Barangay Baybay here Monday evening.
The house of Yolanda Altavas, 65, of Jaro, Iloilo City, which was made of mixed materials, was totally burned.
Investigation by the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Roxas indicated that no one was in the house when the fire broke out as the caretaker, Lito Ordines, 40, was not around.
According to Ordines, he was in a store at Baybay beach to buy food for dinner. He learned of the fire from his sibling.
Ordines said an electrical short circuit may have caused the fire.
